The Blaze Phantom is a spawner that can be equipped to Tier 9 Spectre Hulls. It spawns a small ship that is equipped with a shield that resists Explosive Damage. The ship has two firing arcs and can fire a barrage of missiles from each side, resulting in a surprisingly large explosion.

Its AI prioritizes attacking other spawned ships that are within 8 km of the parent ship, so it will try to engage them instead of other enemies unless there is a primary target selected.

Strategy and Setup[edit | edit source]

Advantages[edit | edit source]

Phantoms are even more tanky than Zealots (e.g. the Pyro Zealot) and deal more damage. They also have an extremely high spawn rate that is on par with Myrs (e.g. the Pyro Myr), so even if the enemy manages to destroy it, a new one would mostly like immediately spawn in.

The Blaze Phantom's firing arc is excellent in close-range skirmishes where Phantoms are surrounded by enemies such as spawned ships.

Blaze Phantom have good survivability as their AI causes them to continuously circle the enemy ship, unlike the Chase Phantom and Scope Phantom which only strafe slightly in either direction once they reach the enemy.

The Blaze Phantom is especially durable against enemies that deal Explosive Damage due to its shield type. It also has resistance to the three RPS damage types - Alien Damage, Plasma Damage and Blight Damage.

Disadvantages[edit | edit source]

Its mobility is considerably worse than the Zealot so it takes longer to move between different targets.

The Blaze Phantom's tendency to circle the enemy has a downside - they cannot become effective meat shields.

The AoE Radius at level I and II is not large enough to reliably damage multiple enemies at once.

While its shield only resists one damage type (as opposed to the Zealot's four), the much greater amount of shield energy more than makes up for that.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The Blaze Phantom is the first spawner made for Tier 9.
  • Blaze Phantoms resemble a mini Heretic Cruiser in appearance but have a battleship firing arc (90 + 90 deg).
  • The description for the Blaze Phantom originally incorrectly mentioned that it specializes against carriers instead of spawned ships.
